Prairie Gardens Adventure!
Af friend of mine, Kendra, asked if we would like to head to Prairie Gardens in Bon Accord for a Friday Evening. We had never been so we JUMPED at the chance and it was so much fun!
GETTING THERE
It’s a bit of a ride to get out there but not so bad. I would say about a 20 minute drive from Edmonton city limits.
It was WAY bigger than I had imagined. Parking was easy and as soon as we walked in I knew we would be there for a few hours. There was A TON to do!
TICKETS AND PACKAGES
Kendra pre-booked our tickets. She actually treated the girls to an early birthday present and purchased the Harvest Bonfire Package for the evening. It was incredibly generous of her ( THANK YOU!!) and made the night so special . It included admission, vouchers to spend at the shop, weiners to roast over the fire from RGE RD, marshmallows, cookies and water. It was a perfect night.
There are tons of different packages you can book. Whether its just tickets or adding things on for a special day / evening. Whatever you do choose - highly recommend purchasing online beforehand. Saves time and sometimes money too!
WHAT WE DID
When we arrived we went STRAIGHT for the goats, sheep and baby rabbits. This is part of their “Farm Animal Discovery”. The girls had no fear hahaha they were so adorable with the little animals and we met a tiny baby goat named Smoky who also had no fear.
We were able to ride the train- the land here is so beautiful. From the pumpkin patch, the open fields, the gardens, the greenhouses, the maze, the old tractors ; this place is like Disneyland for farm kids ( and wanna be farm kids too! ) .
Kennedy and Lilly were SO HAPPY the entire evening. Whether it was climbing up Hay Bales ( and of course jumping off), running around the playground or sticking their faces in a funny picture.
TIPS
I would say plan to spend a few hours here with your family. It’s quite large and there is truly something for everyone. We actually ended up running out of time haha. It was pitch black dark when we were leaving. They have a giant shop where you can buy veggies, pumpkins ( or course!) and cute knick knacks.
As mentioned before - buy your tickets online!
Make sure your camera / phone is charged. There are amazing photo spots / Instaworthy captures at every corner.
Wear comfortable shoes / boots. And dress warm (aka bring a cute hat and gloves). Mom move here but the ground is uneven in some areas and it can get quite cool at night.
Prepare to pay a little extra. You’re shopping local so you’re probably not going to find a 1.99 giant pumpkin. Let it be part of the experience and feel really good you’re supporting a local family who just wants to bring you and your kids a pretty cool unique experience!
Enjoy your little adventure to Prairie Gardens! We sure did : )
