A Day At Calaway Park

We’ve all seen it on the way to the mountains - Calaway Park! I’m over 30 and I had never been until this past weekend. We had an absolute blast & I thought I would share some of the things that helped us along the way!

BUY YOUR TICKETS ONLINE

This is not a sponsored post- we bought our tickets just like everyone else :) However I did find they were about $10 cheaper if you bought them online before hand. Here is the link that we used right off of the Calaway Park website. Children under 2 are free.

CHECK THE RIDE HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS

We went with our 2 girls who are 1.5 years old and 4 years old. There was a fair amount that our 4 year old could go on - about 25 different rides. Lilly (18 months) - not very much but she still had quite a bit of fun watching everything. And there were A FEW rides she could go on. Every single ride and its height restrictions can be found HERE.

BRING LOTS OF WATER

The water fountains are not in service due to COVID. Drinks are readily available at concession and through vending machines but as you can guess- they are on the pricey side.

GO EARLY

Check the hours. When we went the park opened at 10am. We were there right for opening and it was perfect. The heat of the day didn’t affect us (and this park is all pavement so you feel it!) and the crowds were still there but def less.

BRING A BATHING SUIT/ CHANGE OF CLOTHES

There is a spray park and it is great! However -bring a swimsuit or a change of clothes to avoid tromping around in soggy clothes for the rest of the day. Also a good idea if you plan on going on the log ride or the water bumper boats ha!

STROLLER

Bring your stroller. Your kids are gonna get tired I guarantee it there is a lot of walking on that pavement. I know you can rent wheelchairs however I did not see if you could rent strollers. (Old blogs say you can….but it doesn’t say on their website)

FOOD

It’s exactly what you would expect from a fair. Burgers, dogs and fries. Dig in and relish in it. Pun intended.

The girls lasted about 5 hours at the park which I was really impressed with haha. We had so much fun and I cannot wait to bring them back. I saw that you can actually camp out there too; just outside of the park so we may have to check that out next time. If you’re planning on checking out Calaway Park; I hope this helps you! Really there is only one secret we all need - snacks. Bring all the snacks.
