An Unforgettable Night At The JW Marriott Ice District

WOW. It’s the perfect word to describe my experience at the JW Marriott in Ice District. From the incredible location to the legendary customer service; I was spoiled literally from head to toe at the JW Marriott. If you are looking for a truly unforgettable stay; look no further than the JW.

For this stay; we’re at The JW Marriott in Ice District. It’s only been open for a few years and offers an abundance of amenities included with your stay. Read on to find out why you have got to treat yourself to a night ( or two!) at the JW.

WHERE WE STAYED

The JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District is located right in the heart of it all. If you are headed to an event at Rogers Place; the is the hotel you need to stay at. It has 346 guest rooms with 24 sophisticated suites including the exclusive 1,825 square foot Presidential Suite. This hotel is very modern and offers spectacular views of the city.

The JW offers everything you could want; including multiple restaurants and bars, a state of the art 13,000 sq foot fitness facility, meeting and ballrooms , a gorgeous spa, Executive Lounge and a beautiful pool and whirlpool.

Check in time is 4pm and check out is 11am. They also have free WiFi available to all guests.

ROOMS

I stayed in a Delux Corner King Room and absolutely loved it. It had plenty of space and offered a view of Ice District like I’ve never had before. It was great for a “pamper yourself” stay like I had; but it would also be wonderful for a date night or a girls night out! The shower was beautiful; all tile and a rain showerhead. It truly was warmhearted luxury throughout.

If you need a little more room; they offer lots of other options like two queen rooms, one bedroom suites, even vice presidential and presidential suites!

All rooms have a workspace, a coffee maker, a mini fridge and a hair dryer.

With your stay, access to the pool and whirlpool as well as the 13,000 sq ft fitness facility is included. Spa treatments are additional - but well worth it! I’ll explain next!

THE SPA BY JW

I had one of the most luxurious spa treatments of my life at the Spa by JW. To say I left relaxed would be an understatement. I had the “ Relax and Rejuvenate” which lasted just over an hour and half. It was truly a pampering from head to toe. We started with a salt scrub and then I was wrapped in a mud called Eifelfango. While that all soaked in I had a mini facial and a scalp massage. ( I actually think I fell asleep at this point haha). Then I was treated to a beautiful shower and a full body massage after. Seriously- it was something I will never forget. I was literally floating and glowing after. I highly HIGHLY recommend this treatment!

Any of the treatments at the JW Spa are write home worthy. If you can fit this little treat in during your stay; you will be so glad you did.

WHERE I ATE

There are actually quite a few restaurants and bars right in the hotel itself and an awesome in room dining menu which I got to experiance for dinner! While staying at the JW Marriott Ice District you have your choice of restaurants:

BRAVEN : Fine dining meets Alberta steakhouse in at Braven Restaurant. Featuring a menu designed with maximum indulgence in mind, this stylish mecca for dry-aged steaks, quality chops and fresh seafood offers wood-fired favourites for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

KINDRED: Kindred Food + Drink is a laid-back restaurant and casual eatery serving up flavourful apps, seasonally inspired salads, handmade pasta and perfectly sharable pizza seven days a week. The Kindred Grab & Go counter is open daily from 7am-5pm.

ALCHEMY BAR: Serving up handcrafted libations and next-level bar snacks, Alchemy’s menu is a curated collection of vintage and modern cocktails, highlighting a mix of classic recipes, traditional techniques, unexpected flavors, and avant-garde accents and textures.

THE LOBBY BAR: This urban restaurant boasts an impressive selection of signature and classic cocktails, wines by the glass and quality spirits. Drinks are complemented by a range of light snacks and small plates as well as a full-service dining menu.

As mentioned before, The JW is also right in the heart of the ICE District so there are lots of restaurants and bars right within walking distance of the lobby!

As luck would have it - I was staying at the JW during Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals; a home game between the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers. A few of my friends came by to enjoy the watch party and we all had dinner in my room since it had a FANTASTIC view of The Moss Pit and Ice District. We got to experience the room service from JW and it was AWESOME!! Highly recommend the Chicken Fingers for the Kids and the Pizza for the adults! Service was super fast and really friendly. It was such a wonderful night full of memories.

They also have an ICE MENU! Yes - you can order different kinds of ice. It was so cool (Pun intended). The kids absolutely loved it (as did the adults!)

For breakfast the next morning - I was at BRAVEN. They have a great breakfast menu; I went for the waffles. I’m not an egg girl but the dishes did look very good! The waffles were so yummy and the coffee was strong and hot! A perfect breakfast. The atmosphere was very beautiful too. Really liked this spot for breakfast.

ICE DISTRICT

OK- you CANNOT beat the location of this hotel. If you have ANY event happening at Rogers; this is the place you have got to stay! It’s even connected to the arena so you never have to go outside ( handy when its -30 in Edmonton haha). There are tons of restaurants in and around the hotel.

ICE District is really neat. It has an atmosphere you will never forget. We were lucky enough to be there for Game 6 of the Stanley cup finals and all I can say is WOW. We got to experience the energy right on the grounds and from up above on the 7th floor from my room. Truly the best of BOTH worlds.

THE POOL AND GYM ( ARCHETYPE)

The pool is located on the 5th floor just down from the Spa. Again ; can’t beat the view. There is also a whirlpool . Everything about this hotel is so beautiful. They often say it is “warmhearted luxury” and that is the exact feeling. It’s gorgeous, welcoming and blissful.

Also, located on the 5th floor of the JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District, Archetype, connects guests to a high-energy, high performing community in an exceptional facility. More than a gym, Archetype is an elevated fitness experience for those seeking high-performance living. It is stunning- and access is included with your stay. This gym is truly one of kind.

PETS

Pets ARE welcome at the JW Marriott Ice District! While I didn’t bring Cactus this time; I know he would’ve loved it!

Their pet policy is:

1 pet that is 40 pounds (18kgs) max per room with 75 CAD non-refundable fee per room per stay. The maximum number of pets in a room is 1.

PARKING

There is parking on site for a fee. If you would like valet it is $55 daily overnight.

There is also off-site parking at numerous downtown parkades within walking distance.
