Our Stay At The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
It’s an iconic hotel property in the province of Alberta. Celebrating 100 years of history, royalty and the great outdoors. We spent 2 nights in an Estate Cabin at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and it was wildly unforgettable.
WHERE WE STAYED
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is one of the most unique hotels as it offers a main lodge surrounded by heritage log cabins spread out over 700 acres right on the shores of Lac Beauvert. It has 442 rooms. The hotel was established in 1921 by Canadian National Railway and is one of Canada's grand railway hotels. As soon as you walk in you feel the grandiose of it all. The rich history and pride is apparent throughout the hotel with photos of royal guests and days past.
This is the best Fairmont property to see wildlife as its located right in Jasper National Park. While we were there we saw deer, geese, ducks, and a fox right outside our cabin. The girls absolutely loved it.
ROOMS
One of the best things about “JPL” is the variety of rooms available. There are cabins throughout the entire property and each offers its own advantages. Whether it’s a romantic escape for 2 or a group booking of 20; there is a cabin of every size. Seriously- the Milligan Cabin offers 8 bedrooms!
We stayed in one of the Estate Cabins which was very convenient as it was not too far from the main lodge. Tripp, our son, was only 2 months old when we went. So to have a cabin close to the restaurant and the pool was great!
As a family of 5; these cabins had more than enough room for us all! 2 queen beds and room for a crib. I love when hotels offer cribs; one less thing to pack! There was a sitting area that could be separated by sliding doors and a hallway on the other side of the room that lead to a large closet and a bathroom.
We also had a patio which looked right out onto Lake Beauvert and the boathouse. We stayed in Cabin #500 and I would highly recommend this one for any family!
As always with Fairmont Properties; The Rose 31 toiletries from Le Labo are a family fav. They smell so wonderful.
Nespresso Coffee and a variety of teas were also available in the room.
WiFi is NOT included with your room rate. (This might be a blessing haha)
THE POOL
The pool is located in the main lodge and is OUTDOORS! It by far is the absolute best pool in Jasper. I’ts warm, offers the most beautiful view and the kids love it because they always have a variety of floats and pool noodles! My husband Bobby loved it because they also have a variety of adult beverages for purchase right at the pool too haha.
There is also a 24 hour gym with complimentary classes for guests and a spa. Unfortunately I did not have a chance to check out the Spa…next time. I have heard amazing things about it.
FOOD
A HUGE advantage of the JPL for families is that Kids under 5 eat FREE! And Kids 6-12 dine at 50% off. They just released a brand new menu and it is divine! I loved the Gnocchi and Bobby pretty much inhaled his Lobster Mac and Cheese. For the kids; there is a great variety from PB & J sandwiches to chicken fingers to burgers. Pretty much all the things kids love!
There are a few options for dining at The Jasper Park Lodge. The Great Hall is the main dining area and where we had all of our meals. But there is a fantastic sushi restaurant (reservations required) called Oka Sushi. If Italian is more your thing; check out Orso Trattoria. There is also in room dining and a small store on the lower level called Fitzhugh’s Fine Foods. It offers a curated selection of gourmet snacks, grocery staples, beer and wine.
PETS
I think this is the thing that stood out the most to me about the JPL. They love your pets just as much as you do. We were able to take our husky cross, Cactus, with us on this vacation and he had the time of his LIFE! As soon as we walked into our room we saw the bed and bowls laid out for him. He even received a special “JPL” dog tag. This hotel was SO pet friendly; I have never seen anything like it.
Cactus was able to join us for meals. There are designated parts of the The Great Hall restaurant where we could all dine together. Cactus even got his own Menu. From salmon to chicken to plant based; it was PAW-esome!
A $50 fee per room, per night will be applied regardless of the number of pets staying with you. This fee includes the use of water bowls and dog beds, and covers a deep cleaning service for your room upon departure.

GOLF!
As of May 5 - the Fairmont Jasper Park Golf Course is now open! You can book a Tee Time HERE.
PARKING
Self parking for guests is always complimentary. However, the hotel also offers valet parking service for a price of $45 per night plus taxes for guests. There is free valet parking for hybrid vehicles.
If you are headed to the mountains ; a stay at the remarkable Jasper Park Lodge is a MUST. I absolutely loved our time here. It truly is the most family friendly hotel we have ever stayed at.
