We Got a DOG!
Everyone meet Cactus - our new dog!
It was a decision a long time in the making that didn’t take long at all haha. My husband Bobby has been wanting to get a family dog for quite some time now and had REALLY put the pressure on in the last month or so.
Last week I talked about it on air and I am so glad I did. We REALLY wanted a puppy so we could get a head start on training and the dog could grow up with the girls. We didn’t think it was possible to rescue AND get a puppy. But you guys came through. I had so many messages telling me about Saving Grace Animal Rescue in Alix, AB ( about 2 hours away from Edmonton).
Well just our luck - they were hosting a giant puppy adoption event. We carefully looked through all 50 of the animals that were going up for adoption and decided that “Cactus” was the one for us. However we were also given the advice to show up early - like crazy early.
So Bob left at 4am and got to the animal rescue around 5:45am - and he was 4th in line. They opened the doors at 10am and Bobby was able to adopt Cactus. We feel SO lucky!
We know that Cactus is a Husky cross. Crossed with what is anyone’s guess. He is 7 months old. We will be doing a DNA test at the vet and I’ll keep you posted!
The girls are over the moon with our new addition. Kennedy can’t believe we actually have a dog we can keep. It’s adorable. And we really lucked out with Cactus - his foster home was actually a dayhome so he is very gentle around the girls and used to kids.
I’m sure there will be many adventures with this dog - thanks for coming along for the ride! WOOF
