Mommy & Me Stay At The Hampton Inn & Suites West Edmonton
It’s no secret that Bobby my husband works out of town A LOT. So quite often that leaves just the girls and I ( And Cactus the dog!) to have our own adventures. I must admit I was a little intimidated by the idea of taking the girls AND the dog for a hotel night but I am sooooo glad we went for it! The excitement of a change - not to mention the pool- was exactly what we needed. Here’s a little overview on our stay and why you might want to think about packing your bags for a weekend :)
The Hampton Inn & Suites West Edmonton is a part of the “Edmonton’s Best Hotels” group. Long story short - when you book a hotel through their website; you get extra incentives like gas cards, gift certificates to restaurants or prepaid mastercards. No catch - you just gotta book through the Edmonton’s Best Hotels website.
WHERE WE STAYED
For our “Mommy and Me” getaway we stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites on the West Side of Edmonton. It’s actually part of a whole street of hotels right close to West Edmonton Mall. So that’s very convenient. It was easy to find and tons of free parking. Lots of restaurants nearby and literally 2 mins from the Anthony Henday.
DOGS
This is a PET FRIENDLY hotel which is just awesome. I always say it but it’s true, your pet becomes part of your family so when they get to come along on things like this it makes it extra special. And The Hampton Inn and Suites treated our dog Cactus like he was very special. When we arrived in the room there was a dog bowl and some treats waiting for him. A really nice touch.
One thing I noticed as well was how clean the room was. Often with pet rooms - lets be real - hotels dont always give you the nicest rooms because of course pets could ruin them. But here; our room was so clean and nice.
There was a little turf of grass to the side of the hotel that he could use for his business too. If you follow along on my Instagram account ; you know our dog has a hard time going to the bathroom anywhere expect home (diva dog) haha but luckily he did end up going in the morning and there were no accidents!
ROOMS
This was by far the largest hotel room we have ever stayed in. If you are traveling with kids this room is a MUST. You could literally fit about 5 cribs in there haha. We stayed in a “ 2 Queen Bed Studio Suite w/ Sofabed “ and it was glorious.
There was a great “kitchen” area with a long countertop , fridge, microwave, sink and coffee machine.
We had a shower / bathtub which is always good with kids. Nice glass doors. The bathroom itself was tinier but worth it to have the giant room. The vanity was completely open to the room.
Neutrogena products.
Bed were comfy - pretty soft and lots of pillows. Also USB chargers right in the wall ; no need for the block. Something little but I love it.
We STARTED out all in the same bed but once the girls were asleep I snuck over to the other queen bed and had it allllllll to myself! Another win.
It’s important to note there is just TV in the rooms; not netflix or prime etc. They did have a really big selection of movies ( including ones that were still in theatres) but you have to pay for them.
Lastly; they also have the option of connected rooms if you are travelling with a big group.
POOL
The pool is what REALLY stood out for us. There are 3 in total. A hot tub, a normal pool ( with pretty warm water!) and a kids area with a sprinkling mushroom. The girls absolutely loved it. Plus the pool was open until midnight which was pretty sweet. Not that we used it that late but it was nice to never be rushed. I hate when pools close at 8.
There is also a fitness centre with quite a bit of equipment and machines on the main floor that is available to guests.
FOOD
There is no dining restaurant on site. But they do have a snack bar in the lobby!
Also - BREAKFAST! It’s included in your room rate. And this little breakfast bar was AWESOME!
They had everything from eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, cereal, fruit, coffee, juice, muffins, bagels and our fav: A Waffle Bar! They even had different types of batter for the waffles. Plus the girls loved making their own. I was really impressed with the variety and the freshness of everything.
*For dinner the night before; we enjoyed a night out at Montanas Windemere. One of the rewards for booking a night with Edmonton’s Best Hotels is a $50 Ultimate Dining Card. You can use that at Montanas and that is exactly what we did. So along with a great room rate ; you can also get dinner for free ( haha well depending on what you order!). Side note: it’s been a while since I’ve been to Montana’s; it was so fun. The girls loved drawing on the table and the cookies / ice cream sandwiches for dessert.
