Our Stay At The Malcolm Hotel Canmore
One of the best things about living in Alberta is that you are always a short road trip ( well….4hrs) away from the Mountains! We find ourselves in the Banff / Canmore area a few times a year.
WHERE WE STAYED
The Malcolm Hotel is Canmore’s only 4 star luxury hotel. In fact it’s the first hotel to be built there in 20 years! It is located just off of Main Street in the “Spring Creek” area. LOVE the area that it is built in; tons of trails (stroller friendly!) and it is surround by 2 creeks. It’s walking distance to Main Street Canmore and there is underground parking ( which is included in your room rate!).
Everything about this hotel is grand. You walk in to a GIANT fireplace and chandelier. But the neat thing is; the staff is also grand in the fact that they are super friendly. Every single interaction we had with the staff was pleasant. They were helpful, happy and really welcoming.
POOL
The pool here really is the FIRST thing we should talk about as it’s definitely the main attraction! The area is outdoors and features a large main pool ( which is not cold but not super warm haha) and then two hot tubs that are pretty warm. The view of mountains from this pool deck literally makes EVERY picture look like it’s out of a magazine. This pool is truly what dreams are made of.
When we stayed here I had lots of questions about the hotel being kid friendly. I would say YES, without a doubt. However the pool deck is usually pretty quiet so while kids are most def welcome; you might get a slight side eye from other guests if you’re having a cannonball competition . Then again; maybe they will join you.
DOGS
The Malcolm IS dog friendly! We have yet to bring Cactus here but it is not uncommon to see their 4 legged guests featured on their Instagram page! Service is top notch at The Malcolm and your dog is considered one of the family.
ROOMS
Every room is gorgeous here. It’s a new hotel and you can tell. The rooms are a generous size and each one has a little mini bar area with a fridge and a sink which is nice. They also all have Nespresso ( the BIG ones) so that was a treat in the morning. If you’re taking the kids; I can confidently say a play pen will fit in the room with no trouble.
Bathrooms vary; some are smaller with just a shower, sink and toilet. All tile and brand new with great lighting! Others have a bathtub as well which is great. The current soaps, shampoos, conditioners and body washes are awesome. Very fresh and invigorating.
Robes to use to get to the pool are in every room; along with slippers. Super comfy. Lots of closet space and a GIANT (50 inch) TV.
Room views vary; on one side you have the creek and the other you have the mountains. We have stayed in both and I would say the creek side is quieter because you are not facing the pool BUT the mountains are sure a great view too! .
Wifi was also included.
FOOD
There is a restaurant on site called “Stirling”. It offers both a lounge and grill. While we didn’t eat here this time; I have heard good things about it.
OTHER AMENITIES
The unique thing about the Malcolm is that they have a games lounge on the second floor. It’s called the Highland Games Lounge and offers a pool table, foosball, a giant scrabble wall, poker table and a variety of books and board games . Plus - it’s also licensed; so you can order a drink from Stirling and enjoy it while playing games!
The Malcolm also offers a gym with the most incredible views once again. Talk about motivation. But not enough for me haha this is almost a running joke now. I did NOT experience the fitness area.
