Our Stay At Delta Grand Okanagan Hotel
A recent trip to the Okanagan and a little luck found us staying at the Delta Grand Okanagan Hotel in Kelowna this August. I actually ended up winning the 3 night stay through an Instagram contest (See? I am PROOF people do win them! Shoutout to ChattyGirlMedia ‘s “12 Days of Christmas” Campaign! ) so we all packed up and headed to one of the most prestigious hotels in the Okanagan.
WHERE WE STAYED
“The Grand” as it is affectionally known in the Okanagan is one of the most iconic hotels in the Kelowna area. Based right on the water; its been part of the city for 30 years! It is GIANT. Located on more than seven acres right on the water; it has over 260 guestrooms, multiple conference rooms (perfect for weddings!) and 60 vacation homes and condos. One of the neatest features is that it has it’s own lake area separate from Okanagan Lake. People take their boats and can literally tie them out right outside of their rooms. Very cool.
ROOMS
As mentioned above there are a ton of rooms here; from your classic hotel style room, ones that are a little more family friendly (bigger) and ones that give you so much space you may need to call each other from the rooms haha.
We stayed in one of their “Larger Guest Rooms”. It had a king size bed and a pull out couch with a gorgeous lake view. It also had a half partition to separate the bed from the couch area. For our family of 4 ( two young kids aged 5 & 2) this was perfect. Girls slept on the pull out couch and it was comfy!
The bathroom was HUGE. An awesome jacuzzi tub that made the biggest bubbles so the girls were happy haha. A nice shower and plenty of counter space.
I would def recommend this style of room for a family.
POOL
There are two pools and two whirlpools at the hotel; all in the same area. One is indoors and one is outdoors. Each are heated and have an accompanying whirlpool tub.
We spent time every day at the outdoor pool. It’s gorgeous and tons of lounge chairs. The water was a good temp too haha I hate cold pools. There is also a little bar and you can order snacks there too. We didn’t but I did see people getting pizza’s delivered to their chairs (DREAM!). I should have done that.
FOOD
Speaking of food; there are some pretty great options here. There is in room dining and there is a restaurant on site called Oak and Cru. I was really impressed. My favorite dish was the Lemon Prawn pasta. Oh my gosh it was so good.
The girls loved the pizza and the kids menu was actually quite large (starting at just $10!).
Great seating inside and outside beside the lake.
We didn’t have breakfast here but it was available.
There is also a mini marketplace on site called “The Cannery” with tons of drinks, sandwiches to go and Starbucks coffee. Nice and convenient to have for sure. A warning - the sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches I found REALLY expensive ($15+ just for a roast beef sandwich to go).
There is also a cafe down the street with really good muffins and smoothies. Haha sounds silly but if you are wanting that sort of thing; its called Eurobean Coffee. More reasonable prices too.
RESORT FEE
It’s important to note that there is a daily resort fee of $20. It sounds steep at first but when they explain all that was included; I was all for it haha. Here is an overview (Keep in mind these could change!):
$20 credit at Oak and Cru Restaurant
Access to bikes and kayaks on the property ( we used these and went all around the lake -so fun!)
Nightly Wine Tasting
Access to all pools and fitness facilites
WiFi in room
SPA
There is a spa on site called Demara Day Spa. I didn’t have a chance to use it but I did hear great things about it. They offer massages, couples massage, manicures/ pedicures , facials and waxing. They DO NOT use RMT’s so you cannot cover your massages under your benefits.
DOGS
This is a pet friendly hotel! And we did see the cutest pups in the hallways (on a leash of course) and even at the pool ( not sure if they were actually allowed there haha). There is a maximum of 2 pets per room and it’s a non refundable $60 per fee per stay. Pets do have to be 45lbs or less (Sorry to our dog Cactus) and it is only in certain rooms.
PARKING
There is parking onsite but it is a daily charge. We didn’t have a car and ended up taking the Kelowna Concierge airport shuttle to the hotel and I cannot say enough great things. You can prepay online and it was really convenient.
We had a really great time at the Grand. A heads up that summer pricing for this hotel is quite steep. However there are always deals to still be found. Shoulder season or exchanging of points are always options. Or heck - just go all out and treat yourself. This is an awesome resort. Well kept, extremely friendly and helpful staff and great memories made. We loved our stay here.
