WHERE WE STAYED

The Edmonton Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel is Edmonton's ONLY 4 Diamond Lifestyle Hotel. That means unmatched attention to detail along with a unique hotel stay unlike any other. Attached to the Edmonton International Airport; The Renaissance offers such a “cool” atmosphere. It has soundproofed guest rooms, beautiful views of the airport and the runways, a restaurant, fitness facility, a pool and multiple event spaces. This is the new way of airport travel. It’s even CONNECTED to the airport so you never have to leave.

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Nadine who knew everything about the hotel. She was so passionate about it; her enthusiasum was infectious. She made me even more excited to stay here. I hope you get to meet her when you stay here.

This hotel is ALL about the senses. From the gorgeous artwork that rotates every 4 months (and features indigenous artists) to the intriguing furniture and accents. You are encouraged to be out of your room and into their living room; the Halo bar. It’s a community at the Renaissance; you are never alone; even when traveling solo. If you need the time to yourself; it offers a great space exactly for that (like their Library!) ; but if you want to be connected- it also offers the perfect venue to do so.

Check in is 4pm and Check out is 12pm.

ROOMS

As soon as I walked in - I thought WOW. This hotel is completely my vibe. You all know I love the golden era. Think Frank Sinatra, big hair, 60s style and time gone by too fast. Remember when flying was stylish, posh and just “cool”? The Renaissance brings it back. It feels like you’re right in that golden era when you walk inside the Edmonton Renaissance Hotel. Sleek lines, huge rooms and a feeling of glamour.

We stayed in a One Bedroom King Suite and it was gorgeous. Seriously- it was bigger than the first condo that Bobby and I owned haha. The bathroom was HUGE and (my fav) the best lighting. They had a microwave, coffee machine, a mini fridge, robes and really soft bedding. There was a HALLWAY. And the TV turned to both the couch and to our bed. Even the windows were floor to ceiling - and soundproof which was pretty cool. It was a very high tech room; with USB plug ins for all of our devices. The view of the airport runways was really neat; seeing flights land and take off. Where were those people going? What were their stories? All of it - very romantic.

Something really nice was because we had club lounge access - there was complimentary hors d'oeuvres, desserts and a late night snack. Breakfast on weekday mornings. There’s an honor bar and complimentary non alcoholic beverages. This is def worth the upgrade!

The hotel offers 213 rooms, including a presidential suite. Additionally, it also offer 20,000 square feet of meeting and special event space. We were able to take in one of these events - The Gin Festival - while we stayed ( more on this later). There is a hotel room for all needs, whether you need just a simple King / 2 Queen or as mentioned before the presidential suite! There are mobility accessible rooms as well. I cannot say enough good things about the One Bedroom Suite we stayed in. We felt so special.

POOL / FITNESS AREA

I love that this hotel had a pool!! And the lounge chairs fit the glamour meets classic vibe perfectly. I love a good swim and this hotel did not disappoint.

Bobby loves a good workout haha and the fitness centre had everything he needed. This would be so nice to have after a long day of travelling!

Super fluffy towels were provided on site and there was also a hot tub. This was a really great space and one that I loved in the morning with the light coming in.

SPECIAL EVENTS AT THE RENAISSANCE

Well lucky us!! The night we were there they were hosting one of their events - a GIN Festival! We had so much fun learning and trying out different locally made gins. And how nice it was not to worry about a ride home; just to head up to our room! The Renaissance hosts events like this all the time; it would def be worth having a look at their upcoming schedule HERE.

WHERE WE ATE

There is a bistro at the hotel called HALO and that’s where we had both dinner and breakfast. The dress code is casual and the menu offers something for everyone. For dinner I had the Butternut Squash and Sage Gnocchi & Bobby had the Tenderloin. Both were incredible. I absolutely loved this restaurant. They had a great mix of greens. seafood, sandwiches, pasta and meats. And the White Chocolate Creme Brule was delicious.

There is also the club lounge access as mentioned before. And Room Service is available 24 hours. That’s a great perk when you are flying and departing / arriving at all hours!

I loved this hotel so much; it makes me want to book a trip flying out early just for an excuse to stay here again!! This hotel was so unique in that it had an elegance where I felt like I was flown back in time. Travel or not ; this is a GREAT hotel for a date. I can’t wait to be back!
